Cookies

Cookies are not used when entering the Credit Union's web site but are "used" in order to access Home Banking. These cookies are placed temporarily and are never stored to the user's computer memory. Instead, these temporary cookies are used as part of the stringent security measures in the Internet Home Banking product. User's can set their browser to deliver a message when a cookie has been sent, allowing them to decide whether to accept or reject it. However, to tailor a web site content to our visitor's interests and to complete Home Banking transactions, all cookies must be accepted. All of our cookies are temporary, which means they are active only as long as the user's browser is running and are deleted when the session has ended. The temporary cookies keep the session alive until the user logs out properly or times out of Internet Home Banking. Once this occurs, the end user must login with their User ID and Password to gain access again. This ensures that another user using the same computer cannot access the previous session. Cookies cannot deliver viruses.

Once the server session is established, the user and the server are in a secured environment. CSCU Direct PC Banking application and Co-op Services Credit Union's application areas use secure communication, which means that they will only allow browsers that support Secure Socket Layer (SSL). SSL ensures that electronic data communicated between your browser and CSCU Direct sites cannot be read by a third party even if the data is intercepted. Co-op Services Credit Union suggests that you use a browser with 128-bit encryption, readily available from manufacturers such as Netscape or Microsoft. You know it is working when you see the lock (in a locked position) appear on your browser window.

For privacy and security purposes, all information you provide us using the forms applications on our web site is encrypted (scrambled) before you send it to us.

E-mail
Co-op Services Credit Union asks that you do not send confidential information to us via e-mail. E-mail is not necessarily safe against interception. If your communication is sensitive, or includes personal information such as account numbers, credit card numbers, personal identification numbers, social security numbers, or date of birth, you should phone or use regular mail.
